14-year-old at the center of "NRA T-Shirt Controversy" now facing possibility of 1 year in jail

Suspended and arrested after refusing to change his NRA shirt. Today, 14-year-old Jared Marcum appeared before a judge and was officially charged with obstructing an officer.

A $500 fine and up to a year in jail, that's the penalty that Jared could face, now that a judge has allowed the prosecution to move forward with it's obstructing an officer charge against him.

"Me, I'm more of a fighter and so is Jared and eventually we're going to get through this," Jared's father Allen Lardieri said.  "I don't think it should have ever gotten this far."

The Logan County Police Department initially claimed that the at-the-time 8th grade Logan Middle School student was arrested for disturbing the education process, obstructing an officer and Lardieri says that officers even went as far as threatening to charge Jared with making terroristic threats.

"In my view of the facts, Jared didn't do anything wrong," Ben White, Jared's attorney said.  "I think officer Adkins could have done something differently."

Prosecuting attorney Michael White refused to respond to any questions, as did Logan Police.

We obtained official court documents from both sides of this case.  On one hand, the arresting officer from the Logan City Police Department, James Adkins, claims that when Jared refused to stop talking, that hindered his ability to do his job, hence, the obstruction charge.  On the other side, Ben White points out that nowhere in the arresting officer's petition, does it mention Jared ever making any threats or acting in a violent manner. 

"Every aspect of this is just totally wrong," Lardieri said.  "He has no background of anything criminal, up until now and it just seems like nobody wants to admit they're wrong."

Ben White says he will continue working to have the charges against Jared dismissed.  If that doesn't happen in the coming weeks, Jared will be back in court on July 11th.

Does The White House ‘Dread’ Drudge? The Five Crew Takes On The Power Of The Conservative Site

After White House Senior Advisor Dan Pfeiffer pointed out what he sees as the “damaging” effects of conservative news aggregator The Drudge Report, the hosts of Fox News’ The Five thought it was a good time to ask if independent owner Matt Drudge is on the White House’s “enemies list.”

Eric Bolling kicked off the discussion by reviewing the daunting numbers: 33 million visits in the last 24 hours, 900 million in the last month, 11 billion in the last year. With influence like that on the web and a consistently anti-Obama conservative message, he asked if the White House “fears” The Drudge Report.
“I think they do,” Kimberly Guilfoyle jumped in and said. “They are so used to getting smooched and blown kisses, that when somebody says something that might be accurate, that they may view to be unfavorable to them, they get their panties in a bunch. That’s what happens. Drudge doesn’t bow down to them, he doesn’t care. He says, I’m going to report the facts and report the truth, I’m going to tell the story, I’ve got the sources, deal with it.” Of course, as Bob Beckel rightly pointed out later in the segment, The Drudge Report simply writes headlines and link to articles others have written. There is not much “reporting” happening there.
Beckel followed up his point by saying he doesn’t think Drudge is on the White House’s “enemies list” but admitted that any time a site gets the kind of traffic Drudge gets, it has to “scare” the administration’s media operation to some degree, particularly when that “dreaded breaking news siren” appears.
Finally, Greg Gutfeld shifted the conversation by highlighting what he sees as the Drudge Report of the future: Michelle Malkin‘s Twitchy. Rather than aggregating news articles, Twitchy merely aggregates tweets. Gutfeld said he often asks himself “Is this news or not news?” when he looks at the site, but still thinks it’s “the most interesting thing he’s seen happen” recently in media.

Newtown Shooter Sane? Comment of the Day

A new article on Yahoo! by Jason Sickles attempts to shed new light on the Newtown Massacre. Apparently the gunman didn't just snap, but rather showed control by planned his operation. Among the things he did in his planning - destroyed his hard drives and loaded numerous rounds into gun clips. The main point of the article was that the author didn't want the public to think this guy was insane, psycho, or more generally, suffering from mental disorders. Why? Because he wants you to believe that a sane person could do something like this. How? Well he would never actually say this out loud but liberals want you to subconsciously believe that guns have their own minds, and that these evil guns can convince good people to fill innocent people up with lead. It's just another nuanced angle they can use to pry our rights away in the future. They want you to believe that ANYONE and possibly EVERYONE that has access to guns not only can do it, but most likely will if you don't take all the guns away.

But luckily, this is still a very unpopular view. Nearly ALL of the most popular comments in the comments section reject this thesis and instead seem to collectively agree that just because the guy was clearly 100% psycho doesn't mean he is stupid or incompetent.

But my favorite comment came from a guy that wanted to throw everyone's opinions out and start fresh and clean:

Everyone has a reason, my dad wasn't around, my mom was on crack, or I live in a bad neighborhood, and you looked at me wrong. Guess what, I don't care. America has become such pansies until we want to accept all reasons. How about a reason to live right, a reason to respect others. I don't tolerate excuses from myself, my kids, or the lame excuses I hear from others. I'm certainly not going to listen to this hogwash about some allegedly brilliant kid living in a 4k SQ ft. house in a fantastic neighborhood talk about how miserable his life has been. He was evil, and it would've helped if they had given the kid a fricken hair-cut. No way we would've given this kid this kind of empathy had he been black, and neither should we. We all have mental challenges, stress, and other concerns. But to blow away little kids, unforgivable, another point, had this been some Arab......please. Walter Shapiro Exposing His Sick Bias

Walter Shapiro is not the first liberal to politicize the Connecticut elementary school massacre, but it's the first one I've read an article about. 

In his article HERE, Shapiro calls the fight to rid the US Constitution of it's 2nd Amendment, "The longest war." He claims that Americans cry "Never Again!" every time one of these shootings happens, but really, think about it - what is he basing that on? I think it's in his own head.

He goes on to cite what he hopes you will think are sobering or staggering statistics. You know, estimates of how many guns are in America and the number of places to buy guns. But what does this matter? If you the reader were as stupid as this guy, you would believe that the odds of getting shot are proportional to the amount of guns out there. Why? Because he, just like all liberals want you believe that guns kill people. But that is simply FALSE. If that were true, the most dangerous place on earth would be an unmanned armory. The truth they don't want you to know is that PEOPLE kill, not guns.

The author goes on to demonize Americans for "stubborn individualism." So what is the alternative? I guess one day we will decide to upgrade to "reluctant collectivists?" Maybe this author's end goal dream is for America to achieve the utopian status of "sheepish dependents" of the State?

He also says we are a nation of "lethal gun violence." Is there such a thing as "non-lethal gun violence?" I guess that would be a first person shooter on Playstation 3 or XBox360. Seems the author doesn't know those are a little more popular than ACTUALLY shooting people in America.

And then the whopper - Shapiro says, "I sadly know nothing [about ridding the Constitution of the 2nd Amendment] will change in my lifetime." Sadly? The only thing sad here is your insistence that we start slashing up the Constitution.

And now for the statement that caused me to write this article: "It is hard to pin down exactly when Americans made the collective decision that periodic massacres of the innocent are the price that we supposedly pay for our liberties."

First of all allow me to explode this ridiculous FALACY of yours that the right of all American citizens to bear arms requires us to endure periodic massacres: Your theory only makes sense if you believe that only bad people or people with malicious intent would ever want to bear arms. Taking away guns from everyone makes it more likely that a killer will be able to commit his murders unopposed for a longer period making it more lethal. It's called the Law of Unintended Consequences. The TRUTH is that the right to bear arms allows more law abiding citizens to bear the arms necessary to stop the killing. Moreover, the idea that so many people are armed must give potential criminals pause.

Secondly, Americans made the collective decision to have the liberty you actively oppose and work tirelessly to destroy was made in 1776 and it was one of the founders of the Land of the Free who said, "Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety."

Interestingly, Shapiro practically answered with the obvious solution: "Who in his right mind wants to live in a country where maybe twice a year a crazed individual guns down dozens of people in schools and theaters? There is no plausible remedy since we are neither going to disarm Americans nor are we going to pass out guns to elementary school teachers as a just-in-case precaution."

Why not? As long as I know that all the gun carriers are properly trained, I would rather my 6 year old daughter have an armed teacher than be a sitting duck!

Don't let freedom haters like Shapiro take away our rights as citizens!
