Megyn Kelly Cheap Shots at Trump in Gush interview with Rubio

The 5 Basic Questions Megyn Kelly Forgot to Ask Marco Rubio

by JULIA HAHN3 Feb 2016Washington D.C.2,959

In her Tuesday night interview of donor-class favorite Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), Fox News’s Megyn Kelly gushed over the young Senator’s ability to deliver a memorized speech without a teleprompter.

However, throughout the interview, Kelly failed to ask the candidate a single substantive question about his desire to enact the open-borders trade and immigration policies endorsed by Fox News’s founder Rupert Murdoch. Instead, Kelly began her interview with Marco Rubio by playing a clip of Rush Limbaugh praising Rubio as a conservative, in spite of Rubio’s push for open borders.

Kelly then asked Rubio these hard-hitting questions:

Let’s start with Rush Limbaugh’s comment, do you agree that you are no moderate centrist?

One of your competitors took a shot at you today, Gov. Chris Christie, who is really hoping to perform better in New Hampshire than he did in Iowa… do you take offense to that, sir, him calling you ‘a boy, a boy in a bubble’?

He says you’re too scripted. You are very smooth. Your acceptance– well, not acceptance [speech]– but your remarks last night were amazing. You were so articulate. There was no teleprompter. To those who say, ‘Oh he’s scripted’– is that scripted or is that just how you talk?

So now that you’re—you know— we got the marco-mentum, as they call it, you know who’s going to come after you both guns blazing. His name starts with D, his last name starts with T. And you’re going to be right in the middle of the cross-hairs for him now that you’re giving him a run for his money. How are you going to handle Donald Trump’s attacks on you?

Do you think it’s time for Jeb Bush to drop out?

What is winning for you in New Hampshire?

Kelly also added: “I will vouch for you — that you have come on the Kelly Fileregularly and you always sit for the tough questions. And I’ll note for the record, you never complain, never once — even if we ask really tough questions, which I appreciate.”

Noticeably, Kelly’s “tough questions” in last night’s interview did not include a single mention of his support for globalist immigration and trade policies.  Below are some questions Kelly did not ask Rubio:

Your 2013 immigration bill would have tripled green card issuances, doubled foreign worker dispensations, and granted citizenship to illegal immigrants. Can you identify a single policy outlined in your Gang of Eight bill that you no longer support?

A supermajority of GOP voters want immigration reduced, but you have repeatedly called for more immigration. Why do you reject what most GOP voters want: less immigration?

You have said you joined the Gang of Eight to get the most conservative bill out of the Senate, but your bill was endorsed by every Senate Democrat,Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) and La Raza. So that does mean you are an incompetent negotiator, or that you misrepresented the contents of your bill to the American people?

You continue to insist that your 2013 immigration bill—which would have granted citizenship, and by extension, welfare access and voting privileges, to illegal immigrants— is not amnesty. Why do you believe that every single Republican who campaigned in the 2014 midterm elections against the Gang of Eight bill and called it amnesty–such as Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR)– is wrong and that your bill did not in fact grant amnesty? Under your definition of amnesty, could a President Rubio enact the same legalization provisions of the Gang of Eight bill and still tell voters that you did not grant “amnesty” to illegal immigrants.

You have previously said the Obama’s Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement would be a “pillar” of you presidency. Do you stand by that statement?

Kelly’s questions to Rubio in last night’s interview are reminiscent of her treatment of Rubio during the first FOX News debate, in which she and the moderators asked the following questions. In one question, Kelly essentially asked Rubio if he could put God and veterans in the same sentence.

Chris Wallace asked Rubio: “Could you please address Governor Bush across the stage here, and explain to him why you… are better prepared to be president than he is?”

On immigration, Wallace asked Rubio: “Is it as simple as our leaders are stupid, their leaders are smart, and all of these illegals coming over are criminals?”

Bret Baier asked Rubio: “Why is Governor Bush wrong on Common Core?”

One Facebook questioner asked Rubio to: “Describe one action you would do to make the economic environment more favorable for small businesses and entrepreneurs and anyone dreaming of opening their own business.”

Kelly asked Rubio: “How do you justify ending a life just because it begins violently, through no fault of the baby?”

Kelly also asked: “So I put the question to you about God and the veterans, which you may find to be related.”

As Donald Trump’s campaign has pointed out, Fox News’s vice president of news and Washington managing editor, Bill Sammon, is the father of Marco Rubio’s press secretary, Brooke Sammon.

“The Fox News executive who oversees the debate process, [his] daughter is a senior executive on the Marco Rubio campaign,” Trump’s campaign manager told CNN. “He’s one of the executives on Fox that writes the debate questions so maybe he has his own ulterior motives… maybe he should disclose that before he’s writing the debate questions for Fox.”

Fox News’s founder, Rupert Murdoch, is a co-chair of what is arguably one of the biggest immigration lobbying firms in the country, The Partnership for a New American Economy. Via his lobbying firm, Murdoch has endorsed Rubio’s 2013 amnesty bill, as well as Rubio’s 2015 immigration expansion bill. Murdoch has also endorsed President Obama’s trade agenda, which Rubio has said would be the “second pillar” of a President Rubio’s three-pillar foreign policy strategy.

Interestingly, the name of Murdoch’s immigration lobbying firm relies on the “New American” euphemism commonly used to describe the demographic transformation brought on by immigration. For instance, The National Journal has launched “The Next America” project to chronicle America’s becoming a majority-minority country. Similarly, the White House’s immigration initiative is called the “New Americans Project.” And the Latino Victory Foundation and the “National Partnership for New Americans” recently launched the “New American Democracy Campaign” to get as many immigrants as possible to vote.

Marco Rubio’s campaign theme is “A New American Century.”

c.       Same-Sex Marriage. Trump says he’s anti-same sex marriage

e.      Religious Freedom. Trump pledges to uphold religious freedom
f.        Campaign Finance Reform. Trump is for it, and he routinely attacks super PACs
g.       Government Involvement In The Economy.  Trump himself supported Obama’s 2009 stimulus, TARP, and the 2008 auto bailout. He said in 2009, “I think [Obama’s] doing very well. You do need stimulus and you do have to keep the banks alive.” He’s admitted over and over to paying elected officials to grease the skids on his deals – although, in fairness, he says that’s just how you have to work to get business done.
h.      Education. Trump opposes Common Core
i.        Healthcare.  In September he told Hannity:  As far as single-payer and all — there’s so many different things you could have. Honestly, Sean, to do, to have great health insurance. The one thing I do tell people, we’re going to have something great. We’re going to repeal and replace Obamacare, which is a total disaster.
j.        Tax Plan. Trump’s tax plan is certainly conservative. He proposes lowering the top tax bracket to 25 percent, drops the capital gains tax to 20 percent, dumps the death tax, and drops the corporate rate to 15 percent
k.       Trade. Trump is for international tariffs, including an extraordinarily heavy tariff on Chinese goods
l.         Guns. Trump has become progressively more pro-Second Amendment over time. His website states: “The Second Amendment to our Constitution is clear. The right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed upon. Period.”
2.       Bernie Sanders – Hillary
-          Bernie Sanders Attacks 1%ers and Billionaire
a.       However Sanders’ panel of experts was stacked with economists tied to Soros. One prominent member advocates a “new economic order” no longer dominated by the U.S., while another is the leading proponent of the “shock therapy” economic doctrine of radical economic transformation deployed at times to detriment in Eastern Europe.
-          Vanity Fair did a puff piece on Hillary “She Can Not Be Stopped”
-          NYT throws in for Hillary
-          Young kid says to Hillary we think you’re dishonest (2A)
a.       Chris Matthews talks about Bernie and the kids calling Hill dishonest pos (2B)
-          Clintons weren’t so bad??
a.       Bill  was president he allowed Hillary to assume authority over health care reform she count even get a vote in the democrat controlled congress cost $13million
b.      Bill gave Hillary authority over selecting a female attorney general. Both forced to withdraw then she chose janet reno which bill described as “my worst mistake”
c.       Bill allowed Hillary to make recommendations for the head of the Civil Rights Commission.  Lani Guanier was her selection.  When a little probing led to the discovery of Ms. Guanier’s radical views, her name had to be withdrawn from consideration
d.      Bill allowed Hillary to make some more recommendations.  She chose former law partners Web Hubbel for the Justice Department, Vince Foster for the White House staff, and William Kennedy for the Treasury Department.  Her selections went well: Hubbel went to prison, Foster (presumably) committed suicide, and Kennedy was forced to resign.
e.      Travelgate.” Hillary wanted to award unfettered travel contracts to Clinton friend Harry Thompson – and the White House Travel Office refused to comply.  She managed to have them reported to the FBI and fired.  This ruined their reputations, cost them their jobs, and caused a thirty-six month investigation
f.        FileGate: Hillary was allowed to recommend a close Clinton friend, Craig Livingstone, for the position of Director of White House security.  When Livingstone was investigated for the improper access of about 900 FBI files of Clinton enemies and the widespread use of drugs by White House staff, suddenly Hillary and the president denied even knowing Livingstone, and of course, denied knowledge of drug use in the White House.
g.       “bimbo eruption” and scandal defense.  Some of her more notable decisions in the debacle were: She urged her husband not to settle the Paula Jones lawsuit.  After the Starr investigation they settled with Ms. Jones. She refused to release the Whitewater documents, which led to the appointment of Ken Starr as Special Prosecutor.  After $80 million dollars of taxpayer money was spent, Starr's investigation led to Monica Lewinsky, which led to Bill lying about and later admitting his affairs. Hillary’s devious game plan resulted in Bill losing his license to practice law for 'lying under oath' to a grand jury and then his subsequent impeachment by the House of Representatives. Hillary avoided indictment for perjury and obstruction of justice during the Starr investigation by repeating, “I do not recall,” “I have no recollection,” and “I don’t know” a total of 56 times while under oath.
h.      Hillary was forced to return an estimated $200,000 in White House furniture, china, and artwork that she had stolen
i.         Now we are exposed to the destruction of possibly incriminating emails while Hillary was Secretary of State and the “pay to play” schemes of the Clinton Foundation
3.       Obam3.
-          (CNSNews.com) - The debt of the federal government increased by $8,314,529,850,339.07 in President Barack Obama’s first seven years in office, according to official data published by the U.S. Treasury.
a.       That equals $70,612.91 in net federal borrowing for each of the 117,480,000 households that the Census Bureau estimates were in the United States as of September.
b.      During President George W. Bush’s eight years in office, the federal debt increased by $4,899,100,310,608.44, according to the Treasury. That equaled $44,104.65 in net federal borrowing for each of the 111,079,000 households that, according to the Census Bureau, were in the country as of Jan. 20, 2009, the day that Bush left office and Obama assumed it.

Donald Trump on Ted Cruz Debate Challenge: ‘Can We Do It in Canada?’

by MICHELLE FIELDS27 Jan 2016855

Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump responded Wednesday to Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)’s debate challenge by mocking him.

Trump tweeted:

Even though I beat him in the first six debates, especially the last one, Ted Cruz wants to debate me again. Can we do it in Canada?

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 27, 2016

The real estate mogul has been going after Cruz for several weeks by questioning his eligibility.

On Tuesday, Cruz challenged Trump to a debate after Trump announced he would not attend Fox News’ Thursday night debate. Cruz has been tweeting about it using the Twitter hashtag #DuckingDonald:

I challenged @realDonaldTrump to a one-on-one debate. Tell him to accept:https://t.co/wUZHtRpaj4#DuckingDonaldpic.twitter.com/xjCvjS7yyx

Donald Trump Solidifies Lead Over GOP Rivals in First States to Vote

www.google.co.uk

ENLARGE Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is the first choice of more than 30% of people likely to vote in the Republican primaries or caucuses in Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina, a poll finds. Photo: Getty Images By Janet Hook Jan. 28, 2016 6:00 a.m. ET

Donald Trump is dominating the GOP presidential field in the first three states to vote in the 2016 campaign, including in Iowa where he has extinguished the lead once held by Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, a new Wall Street Journal/NBC/Marist Poll finds.

In New Hampshire and South Carolina, Mr. Trump leads by double-digit margins. In all three states he is the first choice of more than 30% of people likely to vote in the Republican primaries or caucuses.

“Trump is positioned to run the house in these first three states,” said Lee M. Miringoff, director of the Marist College Institute of Public Opinion. “His supporters are committed and plan to turn out.”

The poll suggests Mr. Cruz will be his strongest competitor even if the senator has lost ground in Iowa. Mr. Cruz now stands in second place in all three states including New Hampshire, a place that doesn't typically favor Republicans with his kind of conservative profile.

Among Democrats, the poll points to a roller-coaster ride through the three early-voting states. Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont remain deadlocked in Iowa; Mr. Sanders has opened a commanding 57%-38% lead in New Hampshire; in South Carolina, Mrs. Clinton enjoys an even wider 64%-27% spread.

The polls demonstrate that Mr. Trump and Mrs. Clinton remain their party’s front-runners. While Mrs. Clinton has a rougher road than Mr. Trump in Iowa and New Hampshire, South Carolina gives her a “firewall,” Mr. Miringoff said.

The Iowa poll found, with less than a week before Monday’s caucuses, that Mr. Trump is the leading Mr. Cruz by 32%-25%, after weeks of pummeling his rival by questioning the Canadian-born senator’s eligibility to be president, his personality and character. Earlier this month, Mr. Cruz had led 28%-24% in Iowa, the state that represents his best shot to block the billionaire businessman.

What’s more, the poll found that Mr. Trump has inspired deep support: three-quarters of Trump backers in Iowa say they are strongly committed to their choice of candidate, compared with only 58% of Cruz supporters. Similar gaps show up among voters in New Hampshire and South Carolina.

Showing quiet improvement in Iowa is Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida who came in third with 18%—a five-point improvement over the early January poll. But he has slipped in New Hampshire, and dropped behind Mr. Cruz to third place. In the Granite State, Mr. Trump leads with 31%, to Mr. Cruz’s 12% and Mr. Rubio’s 11%. The South Carolina poll finds the same three candidates topping the GOP field.

Among Democrats, the Iowa poll is little changed from the neck-and-neck finish found earlier this month. Mrs. Clinton drew 48% to Mr. Sanders’s 45%. Former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley, remains in the low single digits in all three states.

New Hampshire is a growing bastion of support for Sanders, who had led Mrs. Clinton only narrowly earlier this month, largely on the strength of his appeal to independent voters. Now, the latest poll found, Mr. Sanders has a double-digit lead having gained among those who identify themselves as Democrats. Mrs. Clinton’s earlier 18-point advantage among party regulars is now an eight-point edge for Mr. Sanders.

The poll showed how South Carolina is a formidable backstop for Mrs. Clinton. Her steep 64%-27% advantage builds on her strength among the minority voters who dominate the primary electorate. She leads by 57 points among African-American primary voters.

Although the enthusiasm of Mr. Sanders’s campaign crowds has suggested a big enthusiasm gap between the two Democratic candidates, the poll found that about the same share—roughly three-quarters—of Sanders and Clinton supporters have a high level of commitment to their candidates in Iowa and New Hampshire.

And in South Carolina, more Clinton supporters than Sanders supporters—68% to 58%—say they are firmly committed to their candidate choice.

The stakes for both candidates are higher in Iowa.

“If Clinton carries Iowa, she can absorb a defeat to Sanders who has a home-field advantage in New Hampshire, and then move on to South Carolina,” said Mr. Miringoff. “But if Sanders carries Iowa and then New Hampshire, this contest will, indeed, be a marathon.”

The Iowa poll, conducted Jan. 24-26 included interviews with 426 likely Democratic caucusgoers, for whom the margin of error was plus or minus 4.6 percentage points. It also included 450 likely Republican caucusgoers and had a margin of error of plus or minus 4.7 percentage points.

The New Hampshire poll, conducted Jan. 17-23, included interviews with 568 likely Democratic primary voters and 612 likely Republican primary voters. The margin of error was 4.1 percentage points for the Democrats and 4.0 percentage points for the Republicans.

The South Carolina poll, also conducted Jan. 17-23, included interviews with 718 likely Republican primary voters and 446 likely Democratic primary voters. The margin of error was 3.7 percentage points for the Republicans and 4.6 percentage points for the Democrats.

Ted Cruz Super PACs Offer $1.5 Million for Veterans if Donald Trump Will Debate Him One-on-One In Iowa

Justin Sullivan/Getty Images

by MATTHEW BOYLE27 Jan 2016DES MOINES, Iowa11,444

DES MOINES, Iowa — A pair of pro-Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) Super PACs just offered $1.5 million for veterans if Donald Trump will debate Cruz one-on-one in Iowa before Sunday evening.

Keep The Promise I and Keep The Promise II offered up the sizable donation for America’s veterans on Wednesday evening.

The principal donors of Keep the Promise I, the Mercer family, and Keep the Promise II, the Neugebauer family, in a joint statement released Wednesday evening said:

Senator Cruz and Mr. Trump both respect the veterans and hold them in the highest regard but Senator Cruz respects the process and we are calling on Mr. Trump to do the same and debates are the purest form of democracy. Iowans – and Americans – deserve to hear from the frontrunners in this ‘two-man race’ one last time.  Not only would this be a heck of a debate, but it would also be a terrific opportunity to generate millions of dollars for the veterans.

The press release made clear the parameters of the pro-Cruz Super PACs’ offer: The debate must be between just Trump and Cruz, must take place on or before Sunday Jan. 31 in Iowa, must be one-hour long, and the candidates can pick a jointly-agreed-to moderator themselves.

The two organizations said in a press release:

In response to Senator Ted Cruz’s challenge of a one-on-one debate, the principal donors of the Keep the Promise I and II super PACs are offering presidential candidate Donald Trump a truly fantastic deal, pledging to donate $1.5 million to charities committed to helping veterans if Mr. Trump agrees to debate Senator Cruz in Iowa. This money is in addition to the millions of proceeds available to the veterans as a share of the revenues that this debate could secure from a host network.

It’s unclear at this time whether Trump would move forward with this offer. But at a rally in Des Moines here on Wednesday evening, Cruz announced he has a venue and time and place already set for it.

“We have a venue, we have a time — all we’re missing is a candidate,” Cruz said.

According to the Texas Tribune, the date and time Cruz has reserved is 8 p.m. on Saturday at Western Iowa Tech Community College in Sioux City, Iowa.

Trump will ‘definitely not’ participate in Fox debate, campaign says

www.washingtonpost.com

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa -- Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump's campaign manager Corey Lewandowski confirmed to The Washington Post Tuesday that Trump would "definitely not" participate in Thursday's Fox News debate.

“He’s definitely not participating in the Fox News debate," Lewandowski said. "His word is his bond."

He said Trump would remain in Iowa as planned and would instead host a event in the state to raise money for wounded warriors and other veterans groups.

Trump has made such threats before, but he said that the Fox News Channel had gone too far by issuing press statements on Tuesday that he said kicked his concern about Megyn Kelly, one of the debate co-moderators.

When Trump saw the press release from Fox, "I said, 'Bye bye,'" he said.

Earlier Tuesday, Fox News Channel President Roger Ailes told The Post that "Megyn Kelly is an excellent journalist, and the entire network stands behind her. She will absolutely be on the debate stage on Thursday night."

Later, the network poked fun at Trump in a satirical statement: "We learned from a secret back channel that the Ayatollah and Putin both intend to treat Donald Trump unfairly when they meet with him if he becomes president. A nefarious source tells us that Trump has his own secret plan to replace the Cabinet with his Twitter followers to see if he should even go to those meetings."

Trump's feud with Kelly began during the first debate in August, when she questioned him about disparaging remarks he has made about women with her opening question.

Trump is scheduled to appear later Tuesday in Iowa City. On Wednesday, he is scheduled to travel to Lexington, S.C. for a rally before returning to Iowa for Thursday night's GOP debate in Des Moines.

CHILLING: GOP Rep. Peter King: Prosecute Reporter Who Broke NSA Story

Peter King, republican, is confused and completely lost, he is not fighting for Americans.

In what should be seen an a violent attack on the First Amendment’s freedom of the press clause, Rep. “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”
Here’s an excerpt of the interview of the interview, followed by the full video:
Kelly:  “It’s not particularly newsworthy your calling for Snowden to be prosecuted because we’ve seen that over the past few days. But, to take it another step and say the journalist who published the information, the guys who publish what he leaked, that they should face prosecution, that is news. Do you believe that, stand by that, both (UK Guardian reporter, Glenn) Greenwald and the Washington Post reporter?”
Rep. Peter King:  ”I’m talking about Greenwald.  Greenwald, not only did he disclose this information, he said he has names of CIA agents and assets around the world and they’re threatening to disclose that. The last time that was done in this country, we saw the CIA agent murdered in Greece. No right is absolute, and even the press has certain restrictions.  I think it should be very targeted and very selective and certainly a very rare exception.  In this case, when you have someone who’s  disclosed secrets like this and threatens to release more, then to me, yes, there has to be be.  Legal action should be taken against him.”
