Actress Debra Messing posed for a selfie in support of gun control just as a manhunt began for the suspect who opened fire on the campus of University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Wednesday morning.

Two victims were shot on UCLA’s gun-free campus at around 9:53 a.m. Wednesday morning, Breitbart News previously reported. At 10:35 am, as police began searching for the perpetrator, Messing tweeted a selfie with the caption: “HORRENDOUS Watching news about shooting at UCLA with casualties while taking selfie 2bring awareness to Gun Violence.”

@DebraMessing

The actress wore a shirt with the logo from Katie Couric’s gun control documentaryUnder The Gun. Couric recently apologized for “misleading” viewers with edits in the film designed to make pro-2nd Amendment advocates appear foolish.

The tweet featuring the photograph appeared to have been deleted shortly after it was posted.

Messing apparently faced significant backlash shortly after posting the tweet. In a series of follow-up messages, the Will and Grace star said she never intended to cause offense and was simply a victim of “the horrendous irony of the timing” of the post.

Messing failed to mention that the UCLA campus is gun-free —like all California college campuses. In other words, the campus has 100 percent gun control.

A short time later, Messing tweeted a longer statement in defense of her initial tweet:

Six Aspects Of Donald Trump’s Pro-Gun Push

by AWR HAWKINS5 May 2016169

Presumptive Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has a plan to defend gun rights in general and the Second Amendment in particular. The plan is visible in the policies set forth by Trump as well as his understanding of the value of the Second Amendment and the freedoms it guards.

Here are six aspects of his plan.

National Reciprocity for Concealed Carry–In a September 18 position paper,Trump explained that “the right of self-defense doesn’t stop at the end of your driveway.” He contended that right to defend one’s life is viable wherever a person goes. He said, “I have a concealed carry permit and…tens of millions of Americans do too. That permit should be valid in all 50 states. A driver’s license works in every state, so it’s common sense that a concealed carry permit should work in every state.”

Understands Concealed Carry As ‘A Right, Not A Privilege’–This the “why” behind Trump’s push for national reciprocity. For him, honoring concealed carry licenses from every state is the “common sense” way to honor the right to bear arms for self-defense. He makes the point by contrasting rights and privileges, saying, “[If we can recognize licenses in all 50 states as it relates to] driving – which is a privilege, not a right – then surely we can do that for concealed carry, which is a right, not a privilege.”

Opposes ‘Assault Weapons’ Ban–Trump views attempts to ban “assault weapons” as a prime example of the left’s attempt to use language and demagoguery to limit the freedoms of the people. He said:

Opponents of gun rights try to come up with scary sounding phrases like “assault weapons,” “military-style weapons” and “high capacity magazines” to confuse people. What they’re really talking about are popular semi-automatic rifles and standard magazines that are owned by tens of millions of Americans. Law-abiding people should be allowed to own the firearm of their choice.

Opposes Expansion of Background Checks–Trump believes background checks have failed to live up to the hype surrounding them at the time they were enacted and, therefore, ought not be expanded. He observes that the U.S. has had background checks since 1998, yet they have not prevented numerous high profile shootings and terror attacks against our country and our stateside military personnel. He says we have a situation where criminals get guns when they need them–background system or not–while law-abiding citizens are burdened with going through a check that was supposed to “be instant, accurate and fair,” but isn’t.

Supports ‘Harsh Penalties’ For Gun CrimeTrump said:

advertisement

Several years ago there was a tremendous program in Richmond, Virginia called Project Exile. It said that if a violent felon uses a gun to commit a crime, you will be prosecuted in federal court and go to prison for five years – no parole or early release. Obama’s former Attorney General, Eric Holder, called that a “cookie cutter” program. That’s ridiculous. I call that program a success. Murders committed with guns in Richmond decreased by over 60% when Project Exile was in place – in the first two years of the program alone, 350 armed felons were taken off the street.

Arm U.S. Troops On Military Bases–Trump strongly opposes the policies that disarm troops and make them sitting ducks on military bases. He said:

Banning our military from carrying firearms on bases and at recruiting centers is ridiculous. We train our military how to safely and responsibly use firearms, but our current policies leave them defenseless. To make America great again, we need a strong military. To have a strong military, we need to allow them to defend themselves.

Amy Schumer Accepts Award, Thanks Those Who Died In Theater Shooting

Getty Images

by AWR HAWKINS18 Jan 201683

On January 17 actress Amy Schumer accepted a Critics’ Choice award and closed her acceptance speech by thanking the two victims who were shot and killed during a showing ofTrainwreck in Lafayette, Louisiana.

The deceased victims–33-year-old Jillian Johnson and 21-year-old Mayci Breaux–where killed when John Russell Houser allegedly opened fire on July 23.

At the end of her five minute, twelve second acceptance speech, Schumer said, “And I want to thank Mayci Breaux and Jillian Johnson, who died in Lafayette because a mentally ill person got their hands on a gun.”

Schumer did not mention that Houser bought his gun “legally.” According to Fox 8, the ATF found that Houser bought his .40 caliber handgun “in February 2014 at a pawnshop in Phenix City, Alabama.”

This means Obama’s executive expansion of background checks would not have stopped Houser, because Houser acquired his handgun via a background check–which is the same way Gabby Giffords’ attacker acquired his gun, and it’s the same way Virginia gunman Vester Lee Flanagan acquired his handgun as well.

Amy Schumer Ignores Facts to Push Gun Control at Critics’ Choice Awards

Kevin Winter/Getty Images

by AWR HAWKINS18 Jan 201649

While accepting an award at the Critics’ Choice Awards, actress Amy Schumer ignored the fact that alleged Lafayette theater gunman John Russell Houser passed a background check for his firearm, and instead described him as “a mentally ill person [who] got their hands on a gun.”

The difference between reality–Houser passed a background check with a federally licensed gun dealer–and Schumer’s gun narrative–he was mentally ill person who managed to get a hold of a gun–couldn’t be more stark. The former shows that gun control is impotent to stop committed attackers, while the latter serves Schumer’s purposes by leaving room for the belief that more gun laws and regulations might have prevented Houser from getting a gun.

It should also be noted that on July 27–just four days after Houser allegedly opened fire in the Lafayette theater–a judge who handled a case involving him in Georgia said she never ordered him committed for mental treatment.

The Associated Press reported that Houser “came before Cason’s court in 2008 when Houser’s family asked her to intervene in Carroll County, where he had allegedly menaced his daughter and in-laws.” On April 22, 2008, Cason signed an order “authorizing deputies to detain Houser and take him, against his will if necessary, to a treatment facility for a mental health evaluation.” He was subsequently “delivered by deputies to [a] hospital for evaluation,” but Cason said no order for commitment followed.

Yet Schumer included all the gun control talking points during her award acceptance speech by saying, “I want to thank Mayci Breaux and Jillian Johnson, who died in Lafayette because a mentally ill person got their hands on a gun. But we can end gun violence together.”

Again, this push ignores the fact that the Houser did not acquire his gun in a back alley or out of a car trunk in an abandoned parking lot or from a private seller at a dreaded gun show. He bought it via a background check–the very kind of check President Obama and Amy Schumer’s cousin, Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY), say should be required on every gun sale to keep Americans safe.

But Schumer can’t admit this because doing so would undercut the crisis-mentality she has to maintain in order to convince the ill-informed that we need more gun control now.

Donald Trump Vows to End ‘Gun-Free Zones in Schools’– During Obama Townhall

Reuters

by CHARLIE SPIERING7 Jan 20164,400

As President Obama was at a CNN town hall meeting discussing his passion for gun control, Donald Trump vowed to end gun-free zones.

The billionaire presidential candidate was hosting a campaign rally in Burlington, Vermont at the same time as Obama’s televised meeting, juxtaposing the two events.

Perhaps it was no mistake then that Trump chose to talk about gun control at the end of his speech.

“I will get rid of gun-free zones in schools — you have to — and on military bases on my first day. It gets signed. My first day – there’s no more gun free zones,” Trump told supporters as they cheered wildly.

Trump pointed out that gun-free zones were dangerous because they attracted people considering a mass shooting.

“You know what a gun-free zone is to a sicko?” Trump asked. “That’s bait.”

He lamented that soldiers were killed by terrorists in a military recruitment center and at a military base because they were not allowed to have weapons – even though they were trained to use firearms.

“That ends immediately,” he said. “We’re going back to sanity in this country, we’re going back to strength in this country, we’re going back to intelligence, and we’re going back to common sense.”

Trump added that if good people had guns in California or Paris, they might have been able to stop the terrorists who perpetuated attacks.

“You have bad stuff happening, but at least we’re shooting back and we’re going down shooting,” he said. “Nobody can dispute that.”

The Nuclear Option— Executive Gun Control: Obama Creates ‘Crazy List,’ Disarms the Elderly

by CHARLES HURT6 Jan 2016906

When all the hectoring is finished, the professorial lecturing is done, all the political posturing is over, all that is left after executive gun control are tears. And crocodile tears at that.

Even for those of us long tired of the false hopes and outright lies from this White House, President Obama’s crude gunplay Tuesday was pretty shocking.

It was shocking for its hollowness. Shocking for its low-mindedness. Shocking for the complete disdain the man has for all the families of victims of gun violence that he trots out to carry his political water. And what for? To save a future life? Prevent a past death?

No. He even admitted on live national television that his raft of meaningless proposals will do nothing to prevent a single gun crime and nor would they have ever prevented one in the past.

“Each time this comes up, we are fed the excuse that common-sense reforms, like background checks, might not have stopped the last massacre. Or the one before that. Or the one before that. So why bother? I reject that thinking.”

In other words, Mr. Obama is saying: “Let’s make up some meaningless new gun laws just ‘cuz.”

Or, as his former chief of staff might say, “Never let a tragedy go to waste. Not when you can hector, lecture and grandstand over it. Score some political points.”

No, all of this executive action is designed entirely to create one giant charade that Mr. Obama understands, cares and is offering capable solutions to a problem he wants to fix.

Yet, nothing could be further from the truth.

“Every single year, more than 30,000 Americans have their lives cut short by guns. Thirty thousand. Suicides, domestic violence, gang shootouts, accidents. Hundreds of thousands of Americans have lost brothers and sisters or buried their own children,” he waxed on, as if he really intended to do something about it.

“Many have had to learn to live with a disability or learn to live without the love of their life. A number of those people are here today. They can tell you some stories,” he continued. “In this room right here, there are a lot of stories. There’s a lot of heartache. There’s a lot of resilience, there’s a lot of strength, but there’s also a lot of pain. And this is just a small sample.”

In the end, he offered nothing. Nothing that isn’t already the law. More paperwork. More busy work.

And tears. Empty tears. Meaningless tears. Fake tears.

Now it is possible that these “executive actions” by the president have a deeper, more sinister intent. They are the camel’s nose under the tent, designed to wend through the courts and prop up rulings that support the notion that a future president could, indeed, pass tougher gun restrictions by fiat.

Since voters refuse to elect lawmakers who want to strip citizens of their guns, maybe Mr. Obama can get unelected judges to do it.

To be sure, Tuesday’s announcement was an open admission that, indeed, the president does intend to use medical records from Obamacare to create a national “crazy list” of people, especially the elderly, who cannot have guns to defend themselves.

And certainly, these cynical antics reveal the president’s deep and disturbing disconnect from America. In the past, he has specifically praised the gun bans in Britain and Australia. Yesterday, he held up Communist China as his latest role model.

Suppose we should just be grateful, then, that Mr. Obama doesn’t really care to actually do something to stop the gun violence.

Police May Confiscate Guns without Notice to Owner Starting January 1

JOE KLAMAR/AFP/Getty Images

by AWR HAWKINS29 Dec 201510,886

Beginning January 1, police in California may confiscate firearms from gun owners thought to be a danger to themselves or others without giving the owner any notice.

This is the result of the implementation of “gun violence restraining orders” (GVROs), which go into effect New Year’s Day.

According to KPCC, GVROs “could be issued without prior knowledge of the person. In other words, a judge could issue the order without ever hearing from the person in question, if there are reasonable grounds to believe the person is a threat based on accounts from the family and police.” And since the order can be issued without the gun owner even being present to defend him or herself, confiscation can commence without any notice to the gun owner once the order is issued.

To be fair, Los Angeles Police Department Assistant Chief Michael Moore does not use the word “confiscate” when talking about confiscating firearms. Rather, Moore says, “The law gives us a vehicle to cause the person to surrender their weapons, to have a time out, if you will.”

KPCC reports that “California law already bans people from possessing guns if they’ve committed a violent crime or were involuntarily committed to a mental health facility.” And now, with GVROs, California law allows judges to bar people from possessing guns even if they have not committed a violent crime or were involuntarily committed. Because of this, Gun Owners of California Executive Director Sam Paredes warns that GVROs “may create a situation where law-abiding gun owners are put in jeopardy.”

Losing Influence: 6 Great DC Media Failures of 2015

by JOHN NOLTE26 Dec 201544

We will never be fully rid of the DC Media. Like the garbage-in/manure-out maggots they are, the DC Media will always be a rancid part of the circle of political life. The political left is, if nothing else, relentless, and they will never fully give up the propaganda perch that is this corrupt institution.

That doesn’t mean that the righteous war to politically-exterminate them should be any less relentless, because it is already resulting in quantifiable benefits. The influence these serial-liars once enjoyed to sway public opinion and set the parameters of the national debate, is evaporating.

In no particular order, here are six battles the DC Media waged relentlessly and handily lost in 2015.

Feel free to point and laugh.

The Annihilation of Donald Trump

Ridicule, dismissal, outright lying, coordinated hate-campaigns… Nothing has worked. Using New Media, social media, and a brilliant understanding of how to manipulate a crooked institution, Donald Trump has used, abused and weaponized the American political media to a point where the Republican nomination is now his to lose.

Moreover, in the most recent head-to-head poll, Trump is only -2 points behind Hillary Clinton; this is after 2 months of the worst press he could imagine, and 2 months of the best press she could imagine.

Trump hasn’t even begun to train his fire on Clinton, and this terrifies a corrupt political media used to Republicans who, for decades, have agreed to play and lose by their rules.

Gun Control

Feasting off a pile of dead Sandy Hook Elementary schoolchildren, the DC media was sure they had a two-fer: A propaganda bonanza that would end with law-abiding citizens being disarmed, and a political victory for The Precious Obama.

Ever since, up to and including the San Bernardino terror attack, the DC Media has exploited every opportunity to restrict our Second Amendment civil rights.

With New Media refusing to cave to the emotional blackmail, exposing the madness of gun-free zones and the serial lies told by the gun-grabbers, and reporting the truth about the huge decrease in gun violence as gun sales soar,  fast-forward more than two years and this anti-science propaganda campaign has not only failed, it has failed spectacularly.

Moreover, gun sales continue to soar to record heights.

The Washington Redskins

Last time I looked the Washington Redskins are still named the Washington Redskins.

While our delusional left-wing DC Media and their allies in the Democrat Party use this non-troversy to puff themselves up as self-righteous Mississippi Burning warriors (can I still say “warriors?”) , the American people aren’t falling for it.

Because the maggots can no longer bottleneck the truth, the public knows that the people who are supposed to be offended — not white limousine liberals but, you know, actual American Indians — are not only are not offended, but name some of their own high school teams the Redskins.

Syrian Refugees

After the Paris terror attacks earlier this year, the common sense call went out to put the brakes on Obama’s suicidal plan to resettle 100,000 Syrian refuges here in America. ISIS has promised to seed this group with terrorists, and did so successfully with at least one of the terrorists in Paris.

Coordinating another emotional blackmail campaign, the entire DC Media Complex banded together to again pretend Mississippi was burning.

“Meet the Press” spent an entire hour comparing us to Nazis.

CNN compared us to anti-Semites who denied Jewish refugees fleeing from the Nazis.

The sanctimonious, self-righteous editorials flowed as one “journalist” after another dropped all pretense of objectivity to smear America as racist.

New Media again fought back with the truth. Not only had Obama’s own F.B.I. Director stated that vetting these refugees would be next to impossible, there was also the matter of the female jihadist responsible for 14 murders in San Bernardino. As it would happen, she managed to slip through the very same federal government vetting program the liars in the DC Media had just assured us was flawless.

This issue is now a major liability for Democrats, including Hillary Clinton.

The End of the Rigged Republican Debates

After John Harwood’s appallingly dishonest performance as moderator of the October CNBC GOP primary debate, New Media, the Republican presidential candidates, and the Republican Party rose up and finally said no more.

For decades, the maggots have used Republican primary debates to disqualify our candidates with loaded questions, serial lies, and a premise that says Democrats are right about everything.

The two debates since, including one hosted by CNN, have been professional — have been night and day.

The Implosion of the Lying Fact-Checkers

The serial-leftwing liars and propagandistswho pose as objective fact checkers, finally went too far. One phony fact check after another has exposed these frauds forever. Their impact is nowhere near what it was, and continues to dwindle as they are caught time again calling black white and white black, all in service to Democrats.

Watching one Republican candidate after another wrist-flick the very same fact checks that used to put them on defense, is about as good as it gets.

***

As it always will with the American people, the Truth is winning. It just needs to get out there. Nevertheless, the DC Media is just going to keep lying. In return, we need only keep telling the truth. These people deserve zero respect. Contempt, scorn, and truth have gotten us this far.

Let’s use 2016 to double and triple down.

Obama Goes Beyond Mere Gun Control, Hints at Confiscation

AP

by AWR HAWKINS3 Oct 201539,237

When President Obama spoke in reaction to the heinous October 1 attack on Umpqua Community College, he went beyond his usual calls for more gun control and suggested instead that America consider following the path blazed by Australia and Great Britain.

In the mid-1990s Australia and Great Britain both instituted what were virtually complete bans on firearm possession.

Obama referenced the bans thus:

We know that other countries, in response to one mass shooting, have been able to craft laws that almost eliminate mass shootings.  Friends of ours, allies of ours — Great Britain, Australia, countries like ours.  So we know there are ways to prevent it.

And Obama is not the only one who suggested taking a gun-free approach to American life. The anti-Second Amendment message was also pushed by Slate, Vox, and Dan Savage.

For example, on October 1 Slate ran a story reminding readers that Australia enacted their gun ban in response to an attack on April 28, 1996, wherein a gunman “opened fire on tourists in a seaside resort in Port Arthur, Tasmania.” Thirty-five were killed and 23 others wounded in the attack. Twelve days later Australia’s government banned guns, period.

On October 2 Vox explained that Australia “confiscated 650,000 guns” via a “mandatory gun buyback” program which forced gun owners to hand their firearms over for destruction. Vox claims the result was that “murders and suicides plummeted’ and suggested such a path might be an option for America following “the murder of at least 10 people at Umpqua Community College.”

Vox did not mention that “firearm-related murder and non-negligent homicide” began plummeting in America in the mid-1990s as well. But in America, the decrease in violent crime did not correlate with a gun ban but with a rapid expansion in the number of guns privately owned. The Congressional Research Service reported that the number of privately owned firearms in America went from 192 million in 1994 to 310 million privately owned firearms in 2009. Subsequently, the “firearm-related murder and non-negligent homicide” rate fell from 6.6 per 100,000 in 1993 to 3.6 per 100,000 in 2000 and finally to 3.2 per 100,000 in 2011.

But none of this made any difference to Dan Savage, who responded to the attack on Umpqua Community College by calling for the Second Amendment’s repeal. Savage tweeted, “F**k the NRA, f**k the gun nuts, f**k the Second Amendment — better yet, repeal the Second Amendment.
