Ted Cruz: Establishment Has Abandoned Marco Rubio for Donald Trump

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) has a theory as to why everyone is warming up to Donald Trump: Trump will make deals in Washington D.C. instead of fighting for conservatism.

Speaking to reporters after a campaign rally, Cruz said that the establishment was no longer looking to Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) as their champion.

“We’re seeing something remarkable happening in this Republican primary,” Cruz said, according to National Review’s Eliana Johnson. “Right now, the Washington establishment is abandoning Marco Rubio, they’ve made the assessment that Marco can’t win this race, and the Washington establishment is rushing over to support Donald Trump. We’re seeing that happen every day, and Mr. Trump is welcoming that support.”

Last night, Cruz made a similar argument in a recent interview, calling Trump part of the “Washington cartel.”

“The cartel exists to make deals and to pick winners and losers through cronyism and corporate welfare,” Cruz said in an interview with BuzzFeed’s Rosie Gray. “And so it’s no surprise that more and more of the establishment is beginning to support Donald Trump. Because Donald has promised to make deals and to continue the cronyism and corporate welfare of Washington. That’s what the cartel does. They make deals with Democrats.”

Cruz said that Trump was more likely to make deals with Democrats to help get things done.

“Donald Trump said just yesterday that the problem with me is that I wouldn’t go to Washington to make a deal and go along to get along with the Democrats,” Cruz said in the interview. “If you’re looking for someone who’s a dealmaker, who’ll capitulate even more to the Democrats, who’ll give in to Chuck Schumer, Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV), and Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), then perhaps Donald Trump is your man.”

Donald Trump: Killary Clinton ‘Should Be Indicted’

Billionaire candidate Donald Trump says Hillary Clinton should be indicted for her mishandling of classified documents – after a Fox News report showed that she was sharing documents on her insecure server that was classified higher than top secret.

“What she did is so ridiculous, it’s so, frankly stupid … she was conniving, you know it’s just the way she is,” he said during an interview with radio host Howie Carr.

Trump suggested that Clinton was being protected by the Obama administration, as she was running to succeed him in 2016. “Right now President Obama and the whole group, they’re probably protecting her, and we’re going to find out how our law works,” he said, calling it a “criminal act.”

He said that he spoke to several lawyers and experts who agreed that Clinton absolutely should be indicted.

He also mocked Hillary Clinton for failing to share secrets without people finding out about it.

“With that kind of ineptitude you can’t be President of the United States,” he said.

Earlier today, Trump suggested that Vice President Joe Biden might enter the race – if Clinton was indicted.

“If she – for instance, gets indicted – if she has to go on trial, they’re going to have Biden or somebody else come in,” he said in an interview with radio host Simon Conwaythis morning. “We’ll see what happens. I wouldn’t mind that either.”

Rush Limbaugh: ‘Nationalism and Populism Have Overtaken Conservatism in Terms of Appeal’

Rush Limbaugh: ‘Nationalism and Populism Have Overtaken Conservatism in Terms of Appeal’

On his show on Wednesday, conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh offered his analysis of Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump’s rise, which he argued wasn’t a sign that conservative orthodoxy was winning the day, but instead it is a pushback against the modern-day Democratic Party and President Barack Obama.

And that according to Limbaugh is a sign of the rise of nationalism and populism overtaking conservatism.
“What’s happening here, nationalism, dirty word, ooh, people hate it, populism, even dirtier word,” Limbaugh said. “Nationalism and populism have overtaken conservatism in terms of appeal.  And when this has happened, when it exposes — what people in Washington are afraid of —  and that that is, you know, all this money we’ve asked people to send us and all these donations people have made, this movement, promote that movement, where is conservatism in Washington, they’re asking.  Where is it?  The Republican Party isn’t conservative.  Where are all these conservative people that are contributing to policy being implemented in Congress or in the Senate?  They don’t see it.”

According to a just-released poll from Florida Atlantic University broadcast on MSNBC, in a 12 person Republican primary, Donald Trump is blowing the pack away in Florida with an incredible +32 point lead. The billionaire businessman currently enjoys 48% support in the Sunshine State, a +12 point jump from November.

Trump’s closest competition is SenatorSen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), who sits at just 16%.

Just as stunning is Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL)’s collapse in his home state. The Florida Senator lost -7 points, and now sits at just 11%. Jeb Bush, a former two-term Florida governor, sits at just 10%.
