AG Lynch Explains Obama’s Gun-Control: Gov’t Looking For ‘Individuals Who Seek To Avoid Registering’

Carolyn Kaster/AP

by AWR HAWKINS4 Jan 20161,683

“We will be looking for those individuals who seek to avoid registering,” Attorney General Loretta Lynch told reporters following a Jan. 4 meeting with President Obama regarding executive gun control.

Lynch was referencing the portion of Obama’s pending executive-action gun-control measure that will require gun-sellers to register as federally licensed gun dealers if they meet criteria demonstrating they are “engaged in the business of dealing in firearms.”

This language also means that private sellers registered as federally licensed dealers will have to perform a background check on every sale.

One problem is that the White House executive action fact sheet does not present any numerical minimum on the number of sales that a private seller must conduct before he is considered to be “engaged in the business of dealing in firearms.”

Rather, it indicates a private seller can be considered to be “engaged in the business of selling firearms” regardless of the location from which she sells, the frequency with which he sells, or the number of guns ahe sells.

In light of this, CBS News reports that Attorney General Loretta Lynch is making it known that the ATF will be watching and looking for private sellers who “seek to avoid registering” as being “engaged in the business of selling firearms.”

Lynch stressed that an “exception” remains for “the hobbyist and collector,” but the executive order means private sellers cannot continue to “hide behind that [exception].”

Barack Obama To Announce Executive Gun Control On Tuesday

Nicholas Kamm/AFP/Getty Images

by AWR HAWKINS4 Jan 20163,053

President Barack Obama will reportedly announce executive gun control actions on Tuesday. The gun controls are expected to expand background checks to cover private gun sellers as well to place new reporting requirements on the backs of federally licensed firearms dealers.

According to ABC News, the White House has been open about the fact that the Department of Justice has spent months helping Obama find a way to go around Congress and increase gun control “unilaterally.” And Obama has tried to head off certain opposition to his pending actions by blaming the “gun lobby” for stirring up opposition in the first place.

During his first weekly radio address of 2016 Obama said, “The gun lobby is loud and well organized in its defense of effortlessly available guns for anyone. The rest of us are going to have to be just as passionate and well organized in our defense of our kids.”

But the reality is that expanding background checks to cover another sliver of private sellers and placing new reporting requirements on federally licensed dealers won’t stop high profile shootings or mass public attacks. Background checks are already demonstrably impotent to stop mass attackers, who pass background checks to acquire their guns, then use those guns to carry out evil ends.

For example, Obama referenced the heinous firearm-based attack on Gabby Giffords when explaining his reasons for pursuing executive gun control. What he did not say is that Giffords’ attacker–Jared Loughner–passed a background check to acquire the gun, then used to shoot and wound Giffords.

Burned Out Bush: “Trump Will Never Be President”

Posted by Adam Lankford

Jeb Bush Continues Embarrassing Campaign Courting Graham Supporters

The pathetic campaign of what was supposed to be an inevitable nomination, continues with Jeb Bush to the point where he is now courting supporters of an equally pointless and failed Lindsey Graham

campaign.  The former Governor of Florida refuses to let go and face the reality of the political climate where the establishment has been determined to be as equally destructive as Democrats to a free Republic.  Appearing at an event in South Carolina at Hudson BBQ, where he was over 45 minutes late, Bush spoke to some 100 supporters about the state of his campaign and his intention to win the state of South Carolina.  After taking questions at the town hall style event, Jeb insisted that “Donald Trump will not win the nomination and he will not be President.”

Jeb Bush is finished.

The promise from Jeb to his supporters was met with a smattering of applause similar to what would be heard when a golfer sinks a two foot putt for bogie.  The Golf clap is about all Jeb has been able to muster in this ridiculous campaign since being outed by Donald Trump over his “low energy” and open border stance on immigration.  What is still incredible, is the enormous amount of money still available to the Bush campaign with over $100 Million at his disposal through his Right To Rise super PAC.  The continuous bombardment of ads produced by the PAC, show a Vitamin B12 induced Bush with more energy, but will do little to achieve the desired result of establishment supremacy.  If your campaign is to a point where you need to scrape the bottom of the barrel and gain Graham supporters, who didn’t have any to begin with, then there isn’t much hope for you going any further.

The RAW Scoop is this.  Jeb Bush is a walking example of how powerful and dedicated the Republican Party is to keeping the current system in power.  With newly elected Speaker of The House Paul Crying about to launch another symbolic and intelligence insulting repeal vote on Obamacare while Obama is still in office, these people represent the epitome of all talk and no action.  They simply play to the desires of the electorate rather than actually accomplishing a goal or pushing back on a failed Obama agenda.  Nothing about moderate Republicans is appealing.  Not a single damn thing.  If you are a Conservative, at this point, your eyes are most likely stuck in the back of your head listening to the idiots in charge talk about what they are going to do, have done, and have stopped.  The reality is, Jeb Bush is a Democrat.  Plain and simple.  The American people know it, the party knows it, but the powers that be and the people in charge think you are stupid and don’t know any better.  If Jeb Bush loses in Iowa and New Hampshire, which he will, there is no reason for him to be in the race.  Hell…there is no reason for him to be in the race now.  Tell us what you think

Donald Trump has launched anew ad for television CUT OFF THE HEAD OF ISIS.

Donald Trump has launched anew ad for television highlighting his controversial campaign as he charges into the new year.
“He’s calling for a temporary shutdown of Muslims entering the United States, until we can figure out what’s going on,” a narrator explains in the 30 second TV spot, titled “Great Again.”

“He’ll quickly cut the head off ISIS and take their oil. And he’ll stop illegal immigration by building a wall on our southern border that Mexico will pay for.”
The ad also criticizes Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama for failing to address the threat posed by radical Islamic terrorism.
On Sunday, Trump dismissed his need for ads, but argued that he wanted to do them anyway.
“Honestly, I don’t know. I think I’m probably wasting the money,” he said on an interview with CBS’s Face The Nation. “But I’m $35 million under budget. Look, I was going to have 35 or 40 million spent by now. I haven’t spent anything. I almost feel guilty. I think if you want to know the truth, I’m doing the ads. I’m leading by, as you all say, a lot.”

Texas Governor Challenges Obama on Gun Control: ‘Come and Take It’

www.infowars.com

On New Year’s Day, Texas Governor Greg Abbott had a strong message for President Obama regarding his upcoming plan to unilaterally enact gun control legislation: “Come and take it.”

— Greg Abbott (@GregAbbott_TX)January 1, 2016

“Obama wants to impose more gun control,” Abbott tweeted Friday. “My response? COME & TAKE IT.”

The Republican governor’s statement comes amid announcements the Obama administration will act later this month to impose stricter rules on the selling and purchase of firearms.

The president will meet with Attorney General Loretta Lynch Monday to discuss what actions can be taken to circumvent the Second Amendment without congressional authorization, theWashington Post reports.

The new rules will reportedly seek torequire private sellers to conduct background checks, as well as prevent people on the no-fly list from being able to purchase firearms.

Meanwhile, Governor Abbott has made a strong show of support for Texans’ Second Amendment rights.

On Friday a new law came into effect allowing licensed citizens of the Lone Star State to openly carry holstered pistols.

The phrase “come and take it” was emblazoned on a flag flown by Texian forces during the Texas Revolution, chiefly at the battle of Gonzales, where Texian rebels revolted against the Mexican army and challenged them to retrieve a cannon loaned to them for protection.

Obama, "I'm Fired Up!"

Vacation over, Obama looking at ways to reduce gun violence

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Hawaiian vacation over, President Barack Obama says he is energized for his final year in office and ready to tackle unfinished business, turning immediate attention to the issue of gun violence.

Obama scheduled a meeting Monday with Attorney General Loretta Lynch to discuss a three-month review of what steps he could take to help reduce gun violence. The president is expected to use executive action to strengthen background checks required for gun purchases.

Republicans strongly oppose any moves Obama may make, and legal fights seem likely over what critics would view as infringing on their Second Amendment rights. But Obama is committed to an aggressive agenda in 2016 even as public attention shifts to the presidential election.

Obama spent much of his winter vacation out of the public eye, playing golf with friends and dining out with his family. He returned to the White House about noon Sunday.

"I am fired up for the year that stretches out before us. That's because of what we've accomplished together over the past seven," Obama said his weekly radio and Internet address.

While in Hawaii, he also worked on his final State of the Union address, scheduled for Jan. 12. The prime-time speech will give the president another chance to try to reassure the public about his national security stewardship after the attacks in Paris and San Bernardino, California.

Congressional Republicans have outlined a competing agenda for January, saying they will spend the first days of 2016 taking another crack at eliminating keys parts of the president's health insurance law and ending federal funding for Planned Parenthood. The legislation is unlikely to become law, but it is popular with the GOP base in an election year.

The debate about what Obama may do on gun violence already has spilled over into the presidential campaign.

Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton has called for more aggressive executive actions on guns, and rival Bernie Sanders said he would support Obama's expected move.

The Vermont senator told ABC's "This Week" that he believes "there is a wide consensus" that "we should expand and strengthen the instant background check." He added: "I think that's what the president is trying to do and I think that will be the right thing to do."

Republican candidates largely oppose efforts to expand background checks or take other steps that curb access to guns.

"This president wants to act as if he is a king, as if he is a dictator," unable to persuade Congress and forcing an "illegal executive action" on the country, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie told "Fox News Sunday."

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, also on Fox, said Obama's "first impulse is always to take rights away from law-abiding citizens, and it's wrong."

In the radio address, Obama said tens of thousands of people have died from gun violence since background check legislation stalled three years ago.

"Each time, we're told that commonsense reforms like background checks might not have stopped the last massacre, or the one before that, so we shouldn't do anything," Obama said. "We know that we can't stop every act of violence. But what if we tried to stop even one?"

Federally licensed gun sellers are required by law to seek criminal background checks before completing a sale. But gun control advocacy groups say some of the people who sell firearms at gun shows are not federally licensed, increasing the chance of sales to customers prohibited by law from purchasing guns.

Obama plans to participate in a town hall Thursday night at George Mason University in Virginia on reducing gun violence. The president will take questions from the audience at the event moderated by CNN's Anderson Cooper.

Despite his deep differences with Republicans, Obama has cited two agenda items for 2016 that have bipartisan support: a free trade agreement with 11 other nations called the Trans-Pacific Partnership and changes in the criminal justice system that would reduce incarceration rates for nonviolent offenders. He often points out that the U.S. accounts for 5 percent of the world's population and 25 percent of its inmates.
