CBS Poll: Trump Poised for Landslide Win Over Establishment in South Carolina

A new poll from CBS News conducted before Saturday’s GOP debate, shows Donald Trump with 42 percent support among Republicans, and a massive 22 point lead over second-place candidate Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX).

The three candidates vying for the “establishment lane” — Jeb Bush, Gov. John Kasich and Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL)combine for just 30 percent support.

The poll of likely Republican primary voters, drawn from a larger sample of 1,300 registered voters, shows Trump with 42 percent, followed by Cruz with 20 percent.

Rubio is third with 15 percent, ahead of Kasich with 9 percent and of Jeb Bush with 6 percent. Ben Carson also has 6 percent, tied with Jeb Bush for last.

Trump leads the field by wide margins among both “moderate” and “conservative” Republican voters. Trump also leads Cruz by 16 points among evangelical voters, 41-25. Cruz edges Donald Trump among “very conservative” voters by 4 points, 37 percent to 33 percent.

One major caveat to this poll is that the number of “very conservative” voters included in the poll sample is very low, compared to prior elections. In both 2008and 2012, Republican voters who identified themselves as “very conservative” made up roughly 35 percent of the electorate. In this poll, they are just 27 percent of the sample.

That said, Trump’s lead is so large that even if “very conservative” voters turned out in historic numbers, it wouldn’t likely tip the balance that much based on current trends.

It is important to keep in mind that the poll was conducted from Wednesday to Friday, before Saturday’s Republican debate in Charleston.

It was also conducted, obviously, before news of the death of Sumpreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia was announced. The possibility of the next President making an immediate Supreme Court appointment raises the stakes of the primary and general even higher.

Only Donald Trump and Ted Cruz are currently ready to be President, according to the poll of South Carolina Republicans. Strong majorities of Republicans, 58 and 57 percent respectively, said Trump and Cruz were ready on day one, while just 28 and 27 percent said they were not.

A slim plurality of Republicans said Bush and Kasich were ready, while a plurality said Marco Rubio was not ready. By an overwhelming 33 point margin, Republican voters said Ben Carson was not ready to be President.

Just less than half of Republicans, 42 percent said they were certain in their candidate decision. Around a quarter, 23 percent, said it was likely they could change their mind still.

In 2012, 56 percent of South Carolina Republicans made their final decision in the last three days of the campaign. In 2008, just34 percent made a final decision in the last three days.

Perhaps the most interesting aspect of this latest poll is the terrible headwinds against the three “establishment” candidates, Bush, Kasich and Rubio. Together, they earn just 30 percent support from likely Republican voters.

While the media focuses on which position each will finish, the levels of their actual support are very low. In New Hampshire, the three candidates devoted considerable personal time campaigning and, together, spent well over $60 million in paid advertising. In actual voting, however, the three commanded less than 40 percent of the Republican vote.

Even if their vote were combined in South Carolina, the three would be running 12 points behind current frontrunner Donald Trump.

When asked their opinion of the “Republican establishment,” 45 percent of likely Republican voters said it was a “bad thing.”

Only 11 percent said it was positive. Bush, Kasich and Rubio are battling for the “establishment” lane, but it seems to be a road to nowhere in a Republican primary this year.

More than two-thirds of Republicans, 68 percent, want the next President to stand up to Democrats. Less than one third want a Republican President to “negotiate more effectively” with Democrats. For all their resources, endorsements and attention from national pundits, Bush, Kasich and Rubio may simply be the wrong candidates in 2016.

Bold Prediction: ‘Next President of the United States Will Be At South Carolina Tea Party Coalition Convention This Weekend’

“I am predicting that the next president of the United States will be at our convention this weekend,” Joe Dugan, the founder and executive producer of the South Carolina Tea Party Coalition Convention tells Breitbart News in an exclusive interview.

The three outsider candidates who lead in the polls—GOP front runner Donald Trump,Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), and Dr. Ben Carson—will all be speaking at the event. Trump and Cruz are speaking on Saturday, Carson is speaking on Monday.

“Whom do we trust to lead this nation?” is the theme of the convention.

Notably absent will be any of the establishment candidates—Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), John Kasich, Chris Christie, Jeb Bush—as well as Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY)and former Hewlett Packard executive Carly Fiorina.

The fifth annual South Carolina Tea Party Coalition Convention, a three day event, will be held in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina beginning this Saturday just two days after the RNC sponsored GOP Presidential debate in Charleston, South Carolina carried on the Fox Business Network tonight.

Seven candidates—Trump, Cruz, Carson, Sen. Marco Rubio, Jeb Bush, Chris Christie, and John Kasich— will appear at the main event of the competing RNC debate in Charleston this evening.

The “undercard” will include three of the four remaining candidates—former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, Rick Santorum and Carly Fiorina. Sen. Rand Paul, who did not fare well enough in the polls to qualify to be on the main stage, has said hewill not participate in the earlier “kiddie table” debate. Paul says he actually did meet the Charleston debate criteria.

“What a contrast our event in Myrtle Beach on Saturday will be to the RNC sponsored debate in Charleston on Thursday,” Dugan tells Breitbart News.

“All those debates are a negative message where the focus is food fights where the media pits one candidate against another. No one really learns what the candidates really stand for,” he adds.

“That’s where the South Carolina Tea Party Coalition Convention differs. We offer these candidates an opportunity to get their unfiltered message out,” Dugan says. He points out that the weekend event allows each candidate time to really expand on their message.

“Each candidate has up to 5 minutes for an introduction, 20 minutes of uninterrupted speaking time and 15 minutes question and answer. The questions will be written questions based on policy clarifications, not personalities and gotcha questions. They will be asked by the master of ceremonies. On Saturday that will be Breitbart Executive Chairman Steve Bannon and on Sunday it will be Sirius XM’s David Webb,” Dugan says.

That extra candidate time translates into more real information for voters according to Dugan.

“What we need is a voting revolution where ordinary American hard working citizens come out and show their disdain for the paths our leaders are taking us down. To show their disdain for Washington lying to us,” Dugan says.

The convention has become a significant event in South Carolina GOP Presidential Primary politics, and could play a key role in determining the outcome of the February 20 2016 GOP Pres primary, and potentially Iowa and New Hampshire as well.

Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee will be on the Saturday agenda along with Trump and Cruz. Former Sen. Rick Santorum and former Virginia Governor Jim Gilmore will be on the Sunday agenda. Dr. Ben Carson has Monday all to himself among the Presidential contenders attending.

“None of the establishment candidates accepted our invitation. I have to interpret that as them being afraid to talk directly with conservatives in South Carolina,” Dugan adds.

It is also a missed opportunity. In each year of its existence, the event has attracted sellout crowds.

“Sen. Marco Rubio didn’t even respond. Sen. Rand Paul, I’ve been inviting for three years. He’s never accepted any of our invitations,” Dugan says.

“John Kasich, I wrote his SC state coordinator an invitation. I took the trouble of going to the Crown Reef hotel in Myrtle Beach where John Kasich was speaking to extend our invitation but his staff would not talk to me,” he adds.

“Chris Christie the other day finally sent me a letter saying he will not be able to attend. I reached out to the Jeb Bush campaign at least two times and I heard nothing back. They didn’t say they weren’t coming, they didn’t say they were coming. Carly Fiorina’s campaign manager called two days ago and cancelled saying there was a mixup in the schedule,” Dugan notes.

This is not a sign of respect from the establishment according to Dugan.

“My conclusion is these candidates who declined our invitation have given up on the conservatives in SC. They know it’s a losing cause for them to talk to the people, especially freedom-loving people in this state, ” Dugan tells Breitbart News.

Dugan believes the failure of establishment Presidential candidates to attend the South Carolina Tea Party Coalition Convention reflects the general disdain the GOP establishment has for the every day grassroots voters.

“The Tea Party has become the every day American,” Dugan says.

Dugan has little respect for the establishment GOP candidates who ran for re-election to the Senate and House in 2014.

“They lied to us. They’re afraid we’re going to question them on the lies,” Dugan says.

“In 2014 they clearly ran as far to the right as they could. Then in December, they voted for Cromnibus, and proved what they said on the campaign trail were lies,” he adds.

“For those who are interested in the real truth, they can hear it at the South Carolina Tea Party Coalition Convention,” Dugan concludes.

A number of speakers in addition to the six GOP Presidential candidates -Trump, Cruz, Carson, Santorum, Huckabee, and Gilmore–will be at the event.

AWR Hawkins, Breitbart’s gun rights expert, Breitbart contributing editor Peter Schweitzer, author of the best-selling Clinton Cash, and Breitbart Executive Chairman will be among those additional speakers.

Jenny Beth Martin, co-founder and head of the Tea Party Patriots, Sen. David Perdue (R-GA) (RGA), Alabama Tea Party leader Becky Gerritson, now a Congressional candidate, and undercover video investigator James O’Keefe are among those also scheduled to speak.

Islamic Protester Booted from Trump Rally Is Anti-Israel Activist, Promotes Radical Imams

Rose Hamid, an Islamic protester who made headlines when she was removed from a Donald Trump rally in South Carolina Friday night and attempted to position herself as a victim of ‘Islamophobia’ thereafter, has a history rife with extremist advocacy.

In a CNN article titled, “Silently protesting Muslim woman ejected from Trump rally,” Hamid, 56, is described as an innocent “flight attendant” who came to the rally in hopes that Trump supporters could better understand Muslims. When the Republican frontrunner started to discuss the refugee situation in Syria and President Obama’s policies in the region, a group of protesters alongside Hamid started a “commotion,” theWashington Post reports. Then, the group–who were sporting provocative yellow stars reminiscent to those that Jews were forced to wear under the Third Reich–was promptly ejected from the rally.

“The ugliness really came out fast and that’s really scary,” she told CNN. “I figured that most Trump supporters probably never met a Muslim so I figured that I’d give them the opportunity to meet one.”

The Council on American Islamic Relations, an Islamic advocacy group, has demanded  Trump apologize immediately for allowing Hamid to be removed from the rally by security, arguing it sends a “chilling message” to Muslim Americans.

Throughout this fiasco, Hamid has frequently been described as an innocent bystander without a political agenda– a mere citizen who wanted to share her voice.

But Breitbart News has learned that Hamid is not simply a “flight attendant,” but is also an Islamic activist who apologizes for Palestinian terrorism and promotes radical Imams.

As President of the Muslim Women of the Carolinas, Hamid has consistently promoted anti-Israel propaganda and has excused Palestinian jihadi terrorism as “resistance” against “occupation.”   

“For anyone who wonders why Palestinians are resisting the apartheid, oppressive occupation of Israel, here’s one of the MANY MANY reasons,” she wrote in September 2014 on her Facebook page, following the summer war between Israel and the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas:

On September 3, 2014, she commented on the Jewish state: “Israel does not want peace, they want land and they want to ethnically cleanse the Palestinians from that land they have lived on for generations.”

Two months earlier, she linked to a Palestinian propaganda film, writing: “For those asking why Palestinians are resisting the Israeli occupation,” again apologizing for acts of terror. “This video is a true representation of some of what I’ve seen and been through,” she claimed.

In July 2014, Hamid promoted a petition that described Zionism as a “racist apartheid movement.” The petition claims Jews in Israel are “ethnically cleansing” the Palestinians in the region.

A review of Hamid’s Facebook page shows that she did not once condemn Hamas, the militant Palestinian jihadi group that started the 2014 war, but demonized Israel dozens of times.

Hamid’s Muslim Women of the Carolinas group has in the past promoted an event with Imam Siraj Wahhaj, an unindictedcoconspirator in the trial of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. Wahhaj, a 9/11 truther, has called for the creation of an Islamic state in the United States.

Breitbart News has also found that the man standing next to Hamid at the Trump rally shares comparable views.

Marty Rosenbluth, the man standing next to Hamid at the Trump event, is an anti-Israel activist, a proud Communist, and a Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) supporter, according to comments made on his Facebook page. In December, he bragged about his custom-made Arabic-text “Workers of the World Unite” banner that was made while “I was working with the General Federation of Palestinian Trade Unions.” Rosenbluth is also a pro-bono lawyer for illegal aliens, according to an Indy Week profile from January, 2013.
